Finding an awesome playground is like finding gold… both kids and parents will be happy! Did you know about these 3 fun parks and playgrounds in Mentone? The kids will LOVE them!

1. Mentone Racecourse Reserve

Location: 12 Cedar Street, Mentone

Facilities: Playground, BBQ areas, toilets

Giddy up and ride along to this awesome reserve, you won’t be disappointed! The Mentone Racecourse Reserve also features a lake which is home to many ducks, fish and other wildlife. As this park backs on to the old Mentone Racecourse it has a horse theme throughout the playground, with horse statues, ride-on rocking horses and horses painted on various playground equipment. This park also has a sand pit and an asphalt area for playing basketball.

This playground also has a sheltered BBQ area, toilets, undercover seating and grassed areas, making it the perfect place to take the kids. They will have endless amounts of fun exploring this large reserve.

2. Dolomore Reserve Playground

Location: First Street, Parkdale

Facilities: Playground, toilets, picnic seating areas, fully fenced

This playground is one of our favourites and is only a couple of streets away from Thrift Park Shopping Centre. Dolomore Reserve Playground is slightly hidden, out of the way down a small side street surrounded by beautiful trees, and is almost enchanted with its tree house, wooden playground equipment and giant climbing tree. The kids will have great fun exploring and spending hours playing in the trees, as well as enjoying the new modern equipment.

As it’s close to Thrift Park Shopping Centre feel free to pop by for a cup of coffee and treat from Thrift Park Pies and Cakes or pick up something delicious from Sushi Sushi on your way to the park.

3. Keith Styles Playground

Location: 44 Venice Street, Mentone

Facilities: Playground, BBQ areas, suitable for young children, fully fenced

If you have toddlers then this park may be perfect for you, as it’s fully fenced. The reserve around the Keith Styles Playground  has lovely gardens, grassed areas perfect for picnics  and undercover seating areas.

Unfortunately, the park doesn’t have toilets, however it is close by to many great cafes perfect for taking the kids for a bite to eat or a treat after a trip to the playground. Here’s a great list of cafes close by to the park.

We hope one of these brilliant playgrounds becomes a great new place to take the kids for some free outdoor fun.
